Calgary Film Commissioner Stepping Down

After an amazing 18-years as the Calgary Film Commissioner, Luke Azevedo is joining the team at Edmonton Screen Industries Office as their new CEO.

“This is an incredible opportunity to elevate the creative economy in Edmonton and across the province,” said Azevedo. “I look forward to immersing myself in Edmonton’s creative industries and building on the remarkable talent that calls this city home.”

It’s more than fair to say that Azevedo was instrumental in shaping the Calgary Film industry by bringing productions like The Last of Us to the region.

There is no word on his replacement as of yet, but we at the Okanagan Film Commission welcome whoever it will be, and wish Azevedo all the best in his new career path.
