Release of Gunless DVD Promotes Okanagan as a Production Destination

September 1, 2010 – Jon Summerland, Film Commissioner, Okanagan Film Commission, is pleased to announce that the film Gunless, which was shot in the Okanagan last year, has been released on DVD.

The release of the DVD expands the audience from just theatre attendees and makes it more accessible to a much bigger audience of film and television producers, promoting the Okanagan as a fantastic region to come and make films and television series.

Summerland comments, “For those who work in the film industry, there is nothing quite as satisfying as to walk into your local video stores and see no available copies of a film that you worked on.  For me, it makes all those long days scouting worth it.” He continues, “I was so pleased when I was looking for locations, negotiating accommodation rates, etc., when, in January 2009, the Okanagan Film Commission introduced the project to Glen Mandziuk, previously with Destination Osoyoos and the current CEO of TOTA, and he was so supportive in sealing the partnership with the producers and bringing the film to Osoyoos.”

Gunless, starring Paul Gross and Sienna Guillory is produced by Rhombus Media from Toronto & Brighlight Pictures from Vancouver and distributed by Alliance Films.

Gunless shooting in the Okanagan was the result of the Okanagan Film Commission’s (OFC) work of cultivating and sustaining relationships with key film industry personnel from Canada. The OFC’s on-going marketing strategies with tourism partners like Destination Osoyoos promote the region.
